Practice What You Preach

I’ve often said that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have tons of time to exercise. I firmly believe that it’s MUCH easier to keep up momentum of a healthy habit than to have to restart or kickstart a behavior.

When I shot this video I had been a single parent for 3 days while my wife was away. I usually go to bed each night between 9:00pm-9:30pm, so while the time may not be late for many of you, for me all I wanted to do was to curl up with my pillow not a biceps curl. I get it. It’s hard to make time to do the things you want to.

As you can see from the video, I’m a little loopy and not the usually ball of enthusiastic energy that you usually see.  I did this because I want you to know that I’m a real person too. There are times when I don’t like to workout either! But, I also wanted to show you that it is possible to do what I counsel and that I practice what I preach.

Side note:

  1. Since filming, I have had the kids clean their toy room
  2. I worked out for 10 mins, it wasn’t great, felt like crap, but I can honestly say it was better than nothing
  3. I slept like a rock afterwards

This brings me to another key takeaway. Not every training session is going to be great. Many are just average, some completely suck, and maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 feel great. That’s normal. But you don’t get to just have the awesome sessions without going through all the others. Put in the time and be consistent!
