A Senior Fitness Community
About our facility & training
We are a private 1700 sq ft personal training studio. All training is by appointment only so it doesn’t get crowded while you’re here.
We specialize in helping you move better and with better balance which is why we don’t have traditional weight machines. Research has shown machines aren’t safer than free weights and don’t activate your core and stabilization muscles as much as free weights.
As we age, we lose our fast-twitch muscle fibers (our ability to move quickly). We have a unique machine that helps us know precisely if you are working at the level, you need to be. Using air pressure instead of traditional clunky weights it provides a smooth experience that can be adjusted by 1/10 of a pound.
While each client has a unique exercise prescription, we strive to cover the 4 main pillars of fitness that all adults should be training:
- Aerobic fitness
- Strength & power training
- Mobility/Flexibility
- Neuromotor skills (balance, agility, gait, coordination)
HOW IS OUR TRAINING DIFFERENT?
Coming to Leverage Fitness isn’t like any other gym or recreation center. We strive to make it a place where YOU want to be, and enjoy coming.
We want you to feel like family (but without the drama)!
The Leverage Fitness Difference
- No spandex or wildly inappropriate clothing. You aren’t going to see the 20 year olds strutting around like peacocks. You’ll see your peers wearing what you wear, doing similar things you are doing.
- You get to pick the music you like, that you grew up with, that motivates you.
- Every client (even if in our semi-private groups) receives their own unique exercise program so no two people are doing the same thing. Everyone’s body and goals are different – so should your exercise prescription!
- We are married to results, not a particular piece of equipment or methodology. You’ll find other gyms that will only do machines, or others that will only do kettlebells. All of that stuff is just tools. We find the right tool for the right job.
- Friendships and camaraderie: unlike other gyms where no one talks to each other and everyone is in their own little world/bubble, we all care about you. From our personal trainers to our other members, we’ll introduce you and you’ll start to create friendships. When you don’t show up, you are actually missed! You aren’t just a number here, unless it’s #1!
- Exercising is hard work, but that doesn’t mean it can’t also be fun. We do what we can to make it enjoyable! From bad puns to fun theme weeks you are guaranteed to have a smile on your face.
- We educate you: we want you to know the ‘why’ behind everything you are doing. That way you understand and are empowered to take control of your fitness goals. There is always a sound scientific reason behind everything we have you do.
We’d love you to experience our community and the Leverage Fitness difference for yourself.
Senior Fitness Training & Group classes
Senior Fitness Training
At Leverage Fitness, we strive to ensure that no one gets hurt and that everyone has the proper form. We offer two types of personal training; personal one-on-one training and buddy training (2 clients and a coach). We start each client out with a needs assessment during our consultation to customize exactly what they need most. We then check how you move so we have a home base to start with. With our encouragement, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can reach your goals.
Stable, Able, & Strong semi-private classes
Our semi-private training is different from most fitness classes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to do this?
While we don’t have any long-term contracts and you can cancel at any time, exercise should be seen as an investment into your health. The longer you invest the greater your returns.
Will I have the same trainer each time?
No. We’ve found it helps the learning process and facilitates becoming an independent exerciser more quickly by having multiple trainers all collaborating on your progress and prescription. Instead of just one great coach, you get a whole team all working for you!
Do I need to find a class time with others of my same ability?
No. Because each personal training client has their own exercise prescription you can come whenever works for your schedule. You’ll do your prescription while the other class participants will do theirs.
How soon can I expect to see results?
Everyone is different so seeing results depends on several factors, like what results you’re looking for, frequency of training, distance from your goal, etc. Generally speaking, our personal training clients usually start seeing results in about 6-8 weeks.
What's your cancellation policy?
We require a 24 hour cancellation notice to not be charged for a private session. 12 hours for a semi-private session.
How many times a week should/do I need to come in?
For most older adults, the minimum effective dosage recommends training a minimum of twice per week. You can train more frequently and that can help you reach your goals faster.
Do you accept insurance?
Unfortunately, we don’t accept any insurance. However, with a prescription from your doctor stating your specific need for our services, our fees can be tax deductible, or you can use your flex/HSA account.
Are there any long-term contracts?
No. Everything we do is a month-to-month commitment. If you want to cancel, just give us 15 days notice before renewing.
How do you take payments?
We set up auto-renewing credit card payments.
What happens to my membership if I go on vacation?
If you are on monthly billing we can happily pause your membership while you are on vacation. This typically makes the most sense if you are gone for more than 1.5 weeks at a time. When you come back, you pick up right where you left off. No sweat.
What’s the difference between a 10-pack and monthly billing?
When you buy a block of 10 sessions (a 10-pack) you have 3 months to use those sessions before they expire. With monthly billing, we assume there are 4 weeks a month. However, there are months with 5 weeks. Over the course of the year you will accrue anywhere from 3-9 sessions that are free to you or you can use them as ‘make-up’ sessions. Both the 10-pack and monthly billing offer a discounted rate for sessions.
